Baptism Invitation

Credits: NANCY COMELAB for the frames
At last, I came up with a invitation design for my son’s Baptism on August. As soon as I get this printed more or less 40 copies, I will send them to our friends and family. It looks simple to me, but it sure did took my time. I got the inspiration from this one that I found online. I hope my mind is finally settled with this or else I will have to change it again. LOL!

Manic Monday#1

Are you strict about wearing your sunscreen in the summer?

-Yes, it’s important to protect your skin from potential damage.

Do you frequently wear sandals in the summer? Any favorites you’d like to share?

-Yes, I do wear sandals in the summer. It’s more comfortable. I can’t think of my favorite - just something simple.

What are a few great books that you’ve taken along to the beach or on vacation in years past? If you aren’t a big reader, what do you do to while away the lazy hours?

-I am not really a good reader. I wish I were. I am content with magazines.

How do you feel about swimsuit shopping? Love it, hate it, indifferent? What’s your color of choice?

-I would love it. I am into black or bright colors.

No TV..sucks!

Yesterday, I had to move our entertainment system to a new spot. I had to detached most of wires/plugs and the cable connection. After setting them up again I couldn’t get the cable working. I was wondering if I connected the wires back to the proper places. There was no TV last night until today. It feels so different and very quiet. Casey gets to nap twice already. My hubby asked me to call the cable company and ask them what I have to do because the remote is programmed so as to work with all the device included in the system which I messed up apparently. I don’t really want to talk to anybody about it as I don’t like to explain a complicated problem over the phone. It’s better for a cable guy to come and see the situation. If not today, we will have to wait until Monday.

A birthday present

I was surprised to get a box delivered for me today. I thought the delivery man was mistaken but he clearly read to me the name of the receiver to make sure he is giving it to the right person. It was indeed for me. I was thinking, it must be a birthday present from my husband. I didn’t expect one this soon because my big day is only a couple of days from now. Well, it’s close enough already. Anyway, I found out it’s from my hubby’s niece and her husband. She’s a good gift giver and remembers people’s birthdays. It’s very kind of her to give me another one for this year. I actually love what she got me this time. They are 3 different kinds of Italian pastas and several bottles of sauces. Just what I can really cook. Pasta is always easy to prepare. She figured I can’t make a fancy dinner nor follow a recipe. She’s making it easy for me. Thank you very much Rachel and Kevin! I appreciate the present. I sure will make this on my birthday. By the way, she’s a good cook and she has an interestng food blog. She writes well too. Take a peek at her blog called The Essential Rhubarb Pie.

Casey’s skin problem

We just got back from the pediatrician. Casey has been scratching this morning which really scraped his right arm and bled a little bit. I couldn’t stand seeing him suffer from the itch. This eczema is really terrible which caused him to cry sometimes because there was nothing I could do. I wanted to give him something that can relieve the itch. The weather probably triggers the attack. I can’t think of anything else besides the detergent. I am sure it’s not the culprit. Thank goodness the doctor has confirmed it could be eczema and has prescribed a hydro cortisone lotion for it and an allergy medication. I feel better that from now on I can treat my son’s skin problem if not permanently, at least lessen his suffering.

Happy Father’s Day

I just added another domain to my 1and1 account and to my surprise it was so quick for the whole thing to get propagated and the publishing was flawless this time. I didn’t check how long but probably less than 30 minutes for the whole procedure from domain registration to publishing. It was way easier the second time. I didn’t review the instruction given on Blogger at all but I think it’s what they have stated. I only followed the one’s I did before from number 1 to 8 except adding a subdomain. All I did was to register a new domain and in a flash got it published. I got it working right away as soon as it was ready.

Now, let me think how I can possibly manage all blogs. LOL!

First of all, this post is inspired by my experience at the same time this serves as an alternative instruction on how to set up a custom domain specifically bought from 1and1 and will be hosted by Blogger . I am surprised not a lot of bloggers know about the free hosting that Blogger offers. Anyway, I want to make it easy for those that may stumble upon this new blog of mine who wish to get their own custom domain as there are a lot of opportunities in it especially when monetizing a blog or site. I didn’t have a very good experience before I was able to put this new domain in action. Due to my curiosity and resourcefulness I did get a reliable guide to solve my domain hiatus. I am no computer geek or that I know a lot of tweaks about domain redirection and hosting, etc. I learn by trial and error and with the help of Google.

As I have said, this is for 1and1 custom domains only. This applies to redirecting an existing yourblog.blogspot.com to a yourblog.com. If you happen to read this and haven’t bought a custom domain yet, this is also for you.
  1. Buy your domain here: 1and1- as they have a cheaper price compared to their leading competitor. I have read a lot of complaints about their hosting and FAQ though, but $5.99 is a sweet deal for a domain for a year, right? Just get a domain from them if you want an affordable one.
  2. It usually takes 48 hours for your domain to propagate - just be patient. Once it’s ready, go to your 1and1 Control Panel and log in.
  3. Go to your Administration where you see your Domain/s. The domain you purchased should have the “Ready” status.
  4. Create a Subdomain with www in it and don’t change it’s DNS settings at all as this is what the Blogger instruction stated which can be confusing.
  5. Check the box next to your domain and then click DNS Settings.
  6. Click on CNAME and type in at the given blank ghs.google.com. OK.
  7. Go to your Blogger dashboard and on your existing blogspot you want redirected. Go to Settings, Publishing and switch blogspot to Custom Domain.
  8. Type in your http://yourblog.com in the blank provided and save settings.
  9. On your 1and1 Control Panel at the Administration, click on your domain and Edit Destination.
  10. On the Destination, set it on Forward Your Domain and type in http://yourblog.com as your Forwarding destination and make sure it’s the HTTP redirect forwarding type. Click OK.
  11. Check to see if your blog is already on the right name at the address bar which is http://yourblog.com. It should be up in few minutes if this works for your domain.

When it does, www.yourblog.com, yourblog.com and yourblog.blogspot.com should be redirected to your http://yourblog.com. Patience is all it takes.

Here’s a blog of a newly found friend who had the same dilemma as I had because of 1and1 domain. This instruction helped her too. Visit Jenny’s Corner as one successful domain redirection this helpful tip has made. If all else fails, go to The Finance Buff for the original version. I am very thankful for it as it’s the main source of this instruction as I wouldn’t have known how to finally get this domain working. Get your own custom domain now and have more control. It just feels good having the name you really want on your blog that sounds more like your very own. Let me know if this helps and if not, perhaps I can revise it.

Save the date

I am not really a big fan of digital scrapbooking as I am not patient enough to put my time on it, but I seemed inspired today. It’s just time consuming sometimes. I admire other people’s works though. I made one for my son’s “save the date” note and sent it to family and friends. I tell you, it took longer for me to make it than I thought. Casey is always fussy brought by his teething. Besides the laundry to be folded and hanged, the dishes are waiting in the dishwasher. I wanted to make a little green today with paid blogging, but it just doesn’t seem to be my day. I have to accomplish my priorities at home first. Anyway, here’s what I did a few hours ago.

Blog monetizing wave

Monetizing a blog or site is very easy. There are websites that offer opportunities to the bloggers to make money such as Bloggerwave. This particular one serves as the bridge connecting bloggers and advertisers. Bloggerwave is now open to bloggers. I love to talk about the things I just wanted others to know through my posts without even getting a credit for it, but this time it’s actually going to be beneficial and a revenue producer. Advertisers will pay you to write about hem on your blog. Just join Bloggerwave and register you blog for free. It’s that easy.
