I wanted to make my daily report on weaning before going to bed, but I need more time to enumerate the things in detail so I better not try just yet. I will have to do it tomorrow and I hope I will be able to remember everything we did today. All I can say is that everything went smoothly and way easier than I would have imagined before I planned on this process.
Well, what can I say — I think I’m doing it right. As what most people would attest to, there is no wrong or right way in weaning a child from breastfeeding. I guess, you just have to set some limits and ample of time. Those really matter. Oh well, it’s not like getting new lighting fixtures and changing it in a breeze anyway. Weaning takes a while. It should be slow and gradual for a smooth sailing transition for the mommy and the child.
In as much as I want to go to bed at a pretty reasonable time, I usually decide to finally go when it’s past 12 a.m. which isn’t very good. But then, it’s the only chance I get to sit in front of the computer to do some work in a longer stretch of time since my boy is fast asleep. He wouldn’t let me work during the day and that just sucks, really. LOL! But, I have got to play with him since at his age he needs a lot of attention and some love. On the other hand, I think we need some outdoor lighting since our light at the front door is timed and for the hubby who comes home from work, usually its pitched dark. We need it this time a year. The one we already have has a movement detector and is timed very short. I know there’s a switch to change it to a longer range but we don’t want to fool with.
Yesterday I had a little problem with my web host. Actually, I was going to upgrade my WordPress in Fantastico. I had already upgraded it to the latest version which is WordPress 2.5.1 on this blog through the process that I found easier outside my hosting account, but Fantastico doesn’t have the newest one so I thought it also needed it. I did it first on my main domain. To my dismay I couldn’t log in it which is now own by my sister.

In the past days or a couple of weeks, I have been baking and cooking new stuff I never tried making before. It somehow interests me especially when I never thought how easy or how time-consuming one thing or another is to prepare. The 5th day of weaning my boy didn’t take it as bad as the previous ones. This time, he was over with the little trauma of rejection from the breastfeeding. He likes the outdoors very much and would even get mad when the front door is closed on him whenever he sees it opened for someone or when his daddy goes to work without him going outside as well. It’s funny, as soon as he woke up in the morning he didn’t fuss to ask for breast milk at all and when he saw his sippy cup with water next to the bed, he grabbed it and took a couple of sips from it.
It’s a little amusing yet a bit sad to think that he already knows he will never get what he really wants. He looks forward to his breakfast eagerly. I decided to take him out to the nearby park today and brought his lunch and fed him there. He ate pretty well. In less than an hour after some play and walking around the playground my boy became a bit of a handful so I brought him back to his stroller for a walk around the neighborhood and he fell asleep. It was a good chance for him to get his nap. That means I have found an option to instill his regular naptime minus the breast milk all completely.
At night, he had some ravioli for dinner which he likes. Btw, he loves pasta and cucumber. He went to bed with a little fuss. No screaming anymore. He had adapted hugging and cuddling to sooth him to sleep already with the help of his sleep time music from his toy that creates a white noise of some sort. I thought of eliminating another nursing time all night, but I guess it wasn’t the right time to do that. It will come eventually. Other than that, he is a good boy.

For some reason, I wasn’t able to post my update on the 4th day of weaning my toddler on the day itself so I will be doing it the next day from now on. We had to go out to do some errands and as part of the said process, I wanted to keep my boy busy all day in order for him to divert his attention and eventually forget about nursing. We did go out of the house and took a ride for at least 45 minutes to our destination. I intended to do that so he could take his nap while the car was moving so he doesn’t get groggy at the end of the day without the comfort of nursing when he needs his nap. In short, he didn’t nurse all day yesterday. He is becoming a good drinker though when milk and fruit juice is combined. It’s amazing that he can tip his “sippy cup” to drink already and had it all figured. I gave him some yogurt and cookies while we were out.
Most of us have the most embarrassing moments in life or should I say experiences. I for one can’t forget one particular embarrassing yet unforgettable experience as what I have shared on the video.
