Last night, he woke up wanting to nurse and I tried to sooth him by rubbing his back. He got upset and cried for all he wanted is his comfort zone. I waited for minutes to see if he would calm down but to no avail. I hugged and cuddled him to give it another shot and still he never wanted just that. I gave in just so he wouldn’t hurt his throat from all the crying and it was only the 2nd night and sure it wasn’t that soon for him to get over the transition. He did have to wake up a couple of times to nurse. This morning he still asked for it at the usual time an hour before he is ready to get up.

Today is the 3rd day and the first so far that he never asked for it like usual all day. I tried to avoid the chances for him to get too close to be in a position in which he would remember nursing when he gets thirsty, tired or when he wants to take his nap. Between his toys and his favorite TV shows at NOGGIN and Disney Channel he didn’t remember his favorite mommy’s milk. Anyway, one downside of it though is that he couldn’t get his nap on schedule because that’s one nursing time I have eliminated. I have yet to work on something that will get his naptime back without nursing him. Walking him out in his stroller is the only thing that I find easier, but I don’t think I could do that everyday or every afternoon though. All day today, I have worked on giving him more snacking.

He never refused the foods I gave him. There were crackers, Cheerios (which is his new favorite), yogurt, fruit juice and some water. Cow’s milk is still out of the picture as he dislikes it so far. He does take in a bit of chocolate milk though as what the pediatrician suggested before. The movement of the car while going to the grocery later today put him to sleep, but it was close to bedtime. His first nap for the day is the earliest bedtime he had. LOL! Anyway, I hope this thing goes well in the next few days. I don’t think I’m giving up. Oh by the way, I didn’t have to put the apple cider vinegar at all today.

My son took the first day of this so-called ‘project weaning’ of mine with some crying which wasn’t bad at all. He took it like someone just took away his candy from him, but still managed to smile after some cuddling. LOL! This had been the second day and so far I am sticking to the same procedure as applying on an apple cider vinegar on my boobies twice today. Well, let me start from the night before. I wouldn’t want the cold turkey technique which would be more traumatic for him. I want to take it slow.

I am aiming to eliminate 2-3 feedings in a day. Usually, my boy asks for his comfort 2-3 times at night and 2-3 times during the day. Yesterday, I have eliminated 2 feedings by distracting him with toys and giving him something to snack on. Last night, I had to feed him twice or so just so the first night of trying wouldn’t shock him a great deal. Early this morning, I gave him the first feeding and have eliminated once again 2 feedings all day until it was due for his bedtime. Although, he didn’t get to nap at all since he would ask for his comfort for it to happen and I simply refused and sticking to my plan. Instead, I gave him some good snacks and something to drink as chocolate milk, water or juice. I served him his dinner later on.

How can I wean my toddler from breastfeeding? That is the question!

As part of being a first time mom who prefers to breastfeed over bottle feeding a baby is the challenge to wean. I had planned to wean my son off the breast milk before he is 1 year, but that didn’t happen. He is going to be 16 months before the end of this month and he is eating pretty good which gives me another inspiration to start the weaning process to its full course. I want to wean him off the breast milk completely! And, how on Earth can I do that?!

Well, it’s not going to happen in a split second and it’s neither easy for both of us. With the hopes to give this a shot, I found a forum at Baby Center which helps me to try some technique today. I mean, I only did one of the many suggestions of other moms, so far. I read in one of the shared experiences that applying vinegar made her toddler stop asking for mommy’s milk. Others said a slice of lemon helps too and so on and so forth. Well, vinegar is readily available for me so I opted for it.

Sippy Cups for a Fussy Drinker

We had to go grocery shopping tonight because we were out of baby yogurt for Casey and for next week’s stock of food. He loves it and I am so happy it’s a way for him to take in whole milk as it is what it’s made of. He doesn’t like cow’s milk really. As I have been reiterating, he dislikes it and never opens his mouth once I give him the sippy cup with the white liquid in it. I bought him new set of sippy cups which actually helps for the first try so far. He didn’t realize I was giving him whole milk with chocolate syrup. Well, he drank a bit which was enough to make me happy.

We Could Use Some Humidity

My son Casey has been sleeping uncomfortably in the past couple of nights. I thought the air is a bit drier in spite the use of our humidifier. He wakes up a few times only to fuss and I notice his nose to be stuffy. I do feel the same as well. My nose seems to get irritated this time a year. Anyway, he woke me up so early and I had no choice but to get up and prepare breakfast. He was also complaining that he wants to eat. I can tell. As what I have expected, he got tired and took a nap late morning that is because he used to get up at 9 a.m. Due to the need for humidity at night, it changed his sleeping habit.

The hubby went to work after breakfast and came back lunchtime for a break. It’s a good thing to have a couple of people watch our business while he is recuperating from his illness. He is feeling better gradually and I know it can be tough. He has yet to catch up with some important matters. All in all, we had a nice day although; I preferred to stay home the whole time as I was tired from the walking outside with Casey yesterday. I felt my calves a bit sore this morning. I really should get back on my Pilates regimen. LOL!
