I have decided I am going back to school. I want to be a nurse. Looking at job openings and certain benefits in the medical field, I think it’s smart to get something that will definitely offer you promising opportunities and something you would be happy working for. I am going to enroll in a nursing program nearby and hopefully in two years time, I will become a registered nurse. Well, anyone can dream and the only way to fulfill it is to do something about it and make it achievable.
Getting a bachelor’s degree is another story because, BSN takes a long time and I can’t wait 4 years that’s for sure. That’s why, acquiring a diploma at an associate degree program is my first choice as it will only take 4 semesters and that would be 2 years in total if I can make it. Hopefully, while handling a job if and only if I get a job soon enough after passing the NCLEX-RN, I will pursue the bachelor’s courses for advancement and better management opportunities in the future. I learned that there isn’t really a big difference for RN and BSN grads in a starting job pay-wise. There are also other factors that make BSN a really good thing when it comes to responsibilities in the workplace and greater opportunities that require everything they learned through their degree that nursing program graduates never got. You see, it’s just about the the span of learning. That’s why nursing program RN’s may not handle what most BSN RN’s can handle when it comes to work.
I did a lot of research already that’s why I am motivated to pursue this dream. I’ll just cross my fingers on it. First things first, I have to attend a nursing information session and then take a review before the application test in a community college I picked out. If accepted, then, let the hard work begin. Of course, anything can happen and having a little one to leave at home with a sitter while a mom and wife like me goes to school at night or during the day make it all the more challenging. Wish me luck!
