Last night, we watched our favorite program Law and Order and Cold Case. They were pretty interesting. We’re a big fan of Law and Order especially when there aren’t any movies we like on the cable. The hubby prefers to watch golf or baseball most of the time though which I am not against. I can also cheer for our favorite team which the Boston Red Sox.
Once again Casey stayed up with us like he is a big person. LOL! He woke up early this morning at around 8:30. The hubby wanted a nice breakfast as requested last night so I prepared pancake, bacon and egg. He did the pile of dishes from yesterday first thing this morning so that breakfast was well worth it. Hehehe. Now, let me start my online routine!

For the past two nights, Casey’s bedtime is getting even later than usual. It’s my entire fault. I only get the urge to watch movies at night when it’s supposed to be a time to relax. And that makes him stay up with us too unless he is all pooped and can’t help but fall asleep on my shoulder. He is becoming a night owl like us. LOL!
He wakes up at 10 in the morning. We should change our habit as soon as we can though. I know it’s not a very good practice especially for a little guy like him. I was trying to get him to sleep as early as possible but things can’t work that way all the time. I will have to work on it!

Casey has favorite cartoon shows already. He’s showing his interests in books too. I like it when he wants me to read his bedtime story over and over. I think it’s really cute. He still doesn’t say the word for it but when he complains after the story is over I know that he wants to hear it again. He used to love browsing the Tall book which is about a little monkey who wants to become tall.

Reading his favorite book, The Donkey's Christmas Song
That one is all torn apart already so, now he likes The Donkey’s Christmas Song. It’s a story about the baby Jesus being born in the stable where animals wanted to welcome him with their song. It’s a book intended for reading aloud and he simply loves when I read the sounds that the animals make. It’s really nice to see how a child develops his likes and dislikes. You can tell that a personality is being developed. I can’t believe how much I have influenced him, too.

I just had a Friendly’s pistachio ice cream a while ago. The hubby got it last night. I have not had this flavor a lot before and it’s simply delicious and creamy. We love pistachio nuts and this ice cream is also a must-have. Pistachio is an acquired taste so I don’t think everyone loves it. The other day when we were out shopping, we had ice cream at the Cold Stone which is a really interesting place to have all sort of flavors imaginable for your ice cream.

You can make your own flavor. I had the the strawberry cake lovers’ delight (not sure about the name) and the hubby had the one with coffee flavor. They are DELISH! How about you? What’s your favorite ice cream flavor? Summer is absolutely the perfect season for ice cream indulgences! Make sure to have a scoop!

We finally got Casey a potty chair. Before, I was anxious about starting the training until the other day when we got home from the store; he would rather play with the potty chair than with the new toys we bought for him too. LOL! Such a funny little guy he is.
He made it into a basket shooting his little toy in it. Well, he is still too young to understand what it’s for so we don’t really rush him. It will come and who knows he will train himself at the right time. We will know when he is actually ready.

I’m glad we finally got what we needed to toilet train our boy. We went shopping yesterday. We went to the Babies R Us to get the potty chair and some pull up diapers. I have yet to read more about training him though. I learned a few things in my previous reading so I need to refresh that information this time.
It was funny because we also got him new toys — a stuffed baseball for a baby that he wouldn’t let go while in the store which makes a nice sound and a new toy cart with steering wheel. It’s a Little People Noah’s ark which I don’t really like when in comes to the color, but that was the only one we found in Toys R Us with the steering wheel that can turn all the way through. I don’t know why the others are not made that way.
Anyway, as soon as we got home Casey just ignored the toys and played with the potty chair instead while I was setting it up for him. I guess that’s what most kids do. You buy your child a new toy but he enjoys the box it came with the better. Not to mention, a child gets tired of toys pretty quickly that’s why a lot of parents do get all kinds of stuff from time to time. Oh life. I am now a parent!

We’re thinking about starting potty training our Casey. I learned that at about 18 months, a toddler can be trained already. So, we are going to get the equipments we need for it today. Casey will be 19 months old on the 28th so it should be a good start since he is indeed showing signs of readiness already.
It is said that one of the things to consider when it comes to potty training is when you see a facial expression that you can tell he needs to go since he still couldn’t say it in words yet. I can see that on his face every time he needs to go and he is at the right age to begin with so I will have to work on that training as soon as we have everything we need.
I did a research online and thought it was funny that there’s a book intended for it. Most of the books promise the ‘one-day potty training’, but I guess that’s not really going to happen all the time. It should be a gradual transition. Anyway, here’s a list of things that we need and the steps on toilet training a child.
Things You’ll Need:
- Training Pants
- Potty Chairs
- Hand Soaps
- Stickers
Step1
Look for signs of readiness including staying dry for at least 2 hours during the day, asking to wear “big-kid” underwear, having regular bowel movements, or indicating through facial gestures that he or she is about to go potty.
Step2
Talk to toddler about using the potty. Choose words to describe body parts, urination and bowel movements, while avoiding words that may be offensive to others or embarrassing to your child.
Step3
Show toddler how to use the potty and to wipe and wash hands.
Step4
Encourage toddler to tell you when he or she wants to go potty.
Step5
Reward your toddler for a job well done.
