I just had a Friendly’s pistachio ice cream a while ago. The hubby got it last night. I have not had this flavor a lot before and it’s simply delicious and creamy. We love pistachio nuts and this ice cream is also a must-have. Pistachio is an acquired taste so I don’t think everyone loves it. The other day when we were out shopping, we had ice cream at the Cold Stone which is a really interesting place to have all sort of flavors imaginable for your ice cream.

You can make your own flavor. I had the the strawberry cake lovers’ delight (not sure about the name) and the hubby had the one with coffee flavor. They are DELISH! How about you? What’s your favorite ice cream flavor? Summer is absolutely the perfect season for ice cream indulgences! Make sure to have a scoop!
I was thinking of broiling pork ribs tonight for dinner, but I changed my mind. I am making a sinigang instead. I don’t really have all the ingredients on hand but I think I can make it work. I miss having sabaw with rice and pork ribs so this is a good chance for me to make it again. It sued to be my favorite sud-an to make back home and I take pride in cooking it. In fact, it’s the only recipe I can really be proud of. LOL! I just find it hard to cook sometimes when you are very limited when it comes to the knowledge of cooking. I have to depend on the Internet to see what might be interesting to cook or else I’ll end up with the microwave a lot. I am sharing this recipe that I found online so here it goes.
500 gm boney pork
3-4 medium tomatoes - sliced
1 big onion - sliced
1 Tbsp sea salt
1-2 green chilis - pointed ends cut off [optional]
6-8 cups water
souring agent (tamarind puree, lemon and/or lime)
1 aubergine (eggplant) - sliced 1 inch thick and quartered
1 bunch long string beans (sitaw) [optional] - cut into 2 inch pieces
2 taro roots (gabi) - peeled and quartered
spinach leaves or kangkong - washed and plucked from stems
1. Combine tomatoes, onion, and sea salt in a big pot. Mix and mash them a little bit with your fingers. Add chilis (optional) and pork.
2. Pour just enough water to cover them and bring to boil. Cook for about 3 minutes. Mash the tomatoes with a sandok (cooking spoon).
3. Pour in the rest of the water, bring to boil and simmer until pork is tender (about 1 1/4 hours).
4. Add taro, aubergine and sitaw. Bring to boil and simmer until taro is almost cooked (about 5 minutes).
5. Add the souring agent and spinach (for tamarind puree I use about 1/2 cup of it plus a squeeze of lemon/lime). Cook for 1-2 minutes. Taste soup and adjust seasonings accordingly. Serve.
Whenever I have time, I see to it that I can cook some dinner so the hubby will have something warm to eat every night. I love to eat my food fresh from the pot and sometimes fresh from the microwave when in a hurry though. LOL! As much as possible I want to experiment in the kitchen even how simple it is. The good remark you’ll get from the people that have tasted from your cooking no matter how easy to prepare or how ordinary the recipe is simply priceless. You are very much fulfilled after all the hard work even it took a while to make or even if it drove you bonkers to figure the cooking procedure.
Anyway, what’s cooking tonight? Well, it’s something simple really and I didn’t sweat to come up with this. We are going to have an old fashioned beef and vegetables that we got from the grocery that is prepackaged as Crock Pot meal. I know I didn’t really have to get my hands on our knives and cut all those potatoes and carrots or the meat for the prep today which is ideal for moms that are attending to some handful kids in the house.
All I had to do was preparing the slow cooker and read the instruction at the back of the bag and viola! In four hours or so, while the cook is away dinner is ready. Oh, I didn’t’ do just that. We will have a steamed bun on the side for that. I am actually waiting for my dough while rising so I can have it ready minutes before I serve dinner and just in time for the hubby to get home. The food should wait for a hungry stomach and not the other way around, don’t you think? Anyway, I should get going and review a bridal lingerie website.
Most of us have the most embarrassing moments in life or should I say experiences. I for one can’t forget one particular embarrassing yet unforgettable experience as what I have shared on the video. Times like that you can’t avoid or perhaps run away from unless of course with warning beforehand. Anyway, it’s like eating oyster. Some people may be unaware of the health benefits of it and the fear of eating it raw hinders from even trying. In order for us to be educated and be aware of the good and the bad things about having an oyster, coming out of your shell by reading the Be Oyster Aware website will definitely help. Who knows, you would love to have Gulf oysters on your next meal and be not embarrassed about eating one and telling others they are good when cooked.
We had spaghetti for dinner tonight. Boy, Casey can eat! He was a hungry little guy. Pastas are the easiest and fastest to prepare for dinners especially when you don’t have all night to work in the kitchen. So long as you have a pasta sauce in a jar and a bag or package of turkey or pork and beef meatballs you’re good to go. Pasta won’t cost you a lot of money too besides the convenience in preparing it.
They are ideal for moms with demanding toddlers like me. Anyway, as I have said Casey ate like I never fed him all day. He is a big fan of pasta. He can eat it everyday. Whether it’s spaghetti, ravioli, you name it, he will never refuse it. It must be the Italian blood in him. I’m sure at his age it’s one of those surprising changes. Later on, he might hate it. I hope not!
Most of the time, I struggle when it comes to feeding my toddler. I find it rather difficult to give him the right food. He will be 16 months old on the 28th and he’s in the stage in which his appetite surprises the hubby and me from time to time. He likes one food one day and dislikes it the next. I know it’s common to kids and I don’t get alarmed by this concern. I just wanted to make sure I give him the foods that are appropriate for his age if not the healthy kind. So, I keep on searching online to get an idea or a guide so I won’t find it all that stressful when thinking about what to give him to eat the next mealtime. I found these sample meal ideas for toddlers and I hope to have this as an inspiration. I’m sure this will help other moms too.
This meal plan is a good example of what–and how much–to feed a child who is between one and three years old. For an estimate of how large a serving should be, a useful rule of thumb is to give one tablespoon of each food for every year of your child’s age.
I don’t know how common it is, but I find it rather stressful to think and decide what to eat for breakfast or dinner. In my opinion, lunch is no biggie when you have the leftovers or if you tend to make a sandwich. I’m the kind of person who loves, loves to watch cooking shows and tries to copy a recipe when I feel like it, but the cooking part is not my favorite. I’m jealous how some moms out there get the time to make a proper dinner for their kiddos. I’m afraid I am not on the same track.
Cooking is time consuming and it’s dreadful to your calves especially after the whole prep is done and not to mention the pile of dishes, bowls and mixing spoons to wash later on. Well, that wouldn’t be much of a hassle if you have a dishwasher especially for a big family. But, cooking for two persons is kind of a little difficult sometimes.
And then of course, you can make a recipe good for 6 in one cooking and eat a couple or 3 times meals out of it. Good, it is! Not for someone who doesn’t like to see the same food twice or more in a row. You get the idea. Oh well, as for me I am looking into following a weekly menu plan and I hope this one I found will help. It sounds good and healthy after all. How about you? Care to share your menu to me? Feel free. I would love it.
Choose fruit more often. Just a few great choices in the fruit family are: cantaloupe, grapefruit, strawberries, oranges, bananas, pears, and apples.
Strategy #2
Choose whole-grain cereals and products more often. Examples are whole wheat or bran breads, bagels, and cereal.
Strategy #3
Fruit juice and milk are familiar breakfast drinks. For an extra boost in the morning, why not try a fruit smoothie made from juice, fruit and plain yogurt blended together.
These breakfast choices are sound nutrition choices because they are not only low in fat and cholesterol but also provide fibre, vitamins, and minerals.

One of the easiest food prep that I opt for a quickie meal is pasta. It’s so fast and easy and ready to chow down in just minutes. All you have to do is boil a pot of water and put the pasta in, wait for 7-8 minutes until al dentewhile you heat up your favorite bottled pasta sauce. Don’t forget those Italian meatballs to get heated up for a couple of minutes and you’re good to go.
