- Beaches - I am really missing the times when we opt for the beach during special occasions such as birthdays and after our town fiesta. I love the bond we have and the joy together with friends and relatives while enjoying the water and the foods.
- Foods - I have no idea how long now since the last time I had pig roast or lechon (Filipino style) which is a delicacy in our country. Don’t I just drool over photos of friends who have gone back there for a vacation and celebrated with Filipino dishes on the table.
- Friends - I am really anxious to see a few of my friends who are already married and have kids as I have mine as well to show them. Wouldn’t it be fun to see them again no longer single, but married and parenting?
- Fiesta - As I am planning to travel in November, I wanted to make sure it’s the month of our town fiesta. It’s a celebration of the whole town or barangay to commemorate a patron saint’s birthday or anniversary of some sort. It’s the time of year also when friends and relatives come over from distant places to join in the feast of foods and drink for free all day and night. Each family or so prepares food no matter big or small so everyone can eat whether friends/relatives or not are welcome.
- Shopping Malls - In a tropical place like ours and being gone and missing my hometown’s city, I would probably be surprise with the climate. If I would complain how humid and hot it could be, I might prefer to spend my days in the shopping malls to cool off and not to mention shopping for goodies and best deals.
- Parents’ House - I was gonna say our house, but I think it should be my parents’ technically, since I am married already and have a family of my own. The house where I used to be the queen to my younger siblings I definitely miss. It was my haven after my college life since I didn’t look for a job then. LOL!
- Chat with Friends - A friend’s house is never far for me. I can walk miles just to see my friends and spend time with them not worrying about the time. We have each other’s company for as long as we want.
- Our Town - One thing that sets our town apart from where I live now is that walking to one place from another is no biggie since car is not a necessity in our province. We have public transportation.
- Walking to a friend’s house or to Church - As I have said, car is not necessary– going to church on foot is like exercising at the same time unless of course if it will take you forever to get there, there is always the public jeepney that can take you there. Cars make people lazy just as I am lazy nowadays to get out and take a walk even to the nearby park.
- Jeep and Van - for transportation in long distance trips. I just miss the days when I had to commute to the city during college times.
- Cousins/Relatives - Nothing beats how close-knit families are in our country that’s why I can’t dare forget my relatives. They bring pure joy to holidays such as Christmas and New Year.
- Holidays - Christmas and New Year are lively because of the firecrackers and not just colorful fireworks in the sky (take note) the louder the merrier and the more dangerous it can get. LOL! You have to watch your step when you walk outside the house when 12 a.m. of January 1st strikes or else you’ll spend a new year at the hospital.
- My Family - Most of all, they are the reason why I miss my hometown the most. I am really anxious to see them again.
